    Installing a hydroponic system requires careful planning and consideration of various factors. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you install a basic hydroponic system:


    • Select a suitable location: Find an indoor space with adequate lighting, temperature control, and access to water and electricity. Ensure the area has good ventilation to prevent excessive humidity.
    • Gather the necessary materials: Depending on the chosen hydroponic system, you will need items such as a reservoir, growing containers, growing medium, nutrient solution, water pump, tubing, pH meter, and lighting equipment.
    • Set up the reservoir: Install a water reservoir in the chosen location. The reservoir will hold the nutrient solution and supply it to the plants. Ensure the reservoir is lightproof to prevent the growth of algae. Connect an air pump and air stone to provide oxygenation.
    • Prepare the growing containers: Clean and sterilize the growing containers to prevent the spread of diseases. If using a medium like rockwool cubes or coco coir, soak them in pH-balanced water to adjust their pH levels.
    • Adjust the pH and nutrient levels: Measure the pH of the nutrient solution using a pH meter and adjust it to the optimal range for your plants. Additionally, mix the appropriate amount of hydroponic nutrient solution according to the instructions provided by the manufacturer.
    • Install lighting: If you’re growing indoors or in a space with insufficient natural light, install appropriate lighting fixtures, such as LED grow lights, to provide the necessary light spectrum for plant growth. Position the lights at an appropriate distance from the plants to avoid burning or stunting their growth.
    • Plant your crops: Carefully transplant your chosen plants into the growing containers or the hydroponic system. Ensure the roots are in contact with the nutrient solution or growing medium.
    • Monitor and maintain the system: Regularly monitor the pH and nutrient levels of the solution, adjust as necessary, and check for any signs of nutrient deficiencies or pests. Maintain proper lighting, temperature, and humidity levels for optimal plant growth. Be consistent with watering and nutrient delivery schedules

    No. All you need is access to water clean enough to drink, and in fact, tap water is the best option! The My Hydro 3D comes with a 4-gallon water tank which you will fill about once a week with fresh tap water.

    Various products specifically designed for this purpose can be used to control the pH of the water. These you will find on our page (in the accessories section) are some commonly used products and methods:

    • pH Adjustment Solutions: pH adjustment solutions are available in liquid form and are specifically formulated to increase or decrease the pH of water. They usually contain chemicals such as acids or bases. Follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer to use them effectively.
    • pH Test Kits – pH test kits allow you to accurately measure the pH of your water. They usually include pH indicator strips or liquid reagents. By testing the pH of your water, you can determine if it needs adjustment. Based on the test results, you can add pH increasers or pH reducers as appropriate.
    • pH Boosters: If the pH of your water is too low (acidic), you can use pH boosters to raise it to the desired level. Baking soda (baking soda) is commonly used to increase the pH of slightly acidic water. However, for more precise pH adjustments, it is best to use commercial pH-increasing products designed specifically for water treatment.
    • pH Reducers: Conversely, if the pH of your water is too high (alkaline), you can use pH reducers to lower it. Common pH reducers include products that contain sulfuric acid, muriatic acid, or sodium bisulfate. These should be used with caution and carefully following the instructions, as they can be dangerous if not handled correctly.
    • CO2 injection: In some cases, such as aquariums, CO2 injection systems are used to control the pH. These systems dissolve carbon dioxide in the water, which lowers the pH. This method is best suited for specialized applications where precise control over pH levels is required.

    Hydro3D Device Use & Care

    Water tank:

    • The water tank is made of ceramic. A ceramic tank can indeed be used for watering plants. Ceramic is a porous material that can absorb and hold water, making it suitable for storing and slowly releasing moisture to plants over time. Here are a few considerations and tips when using a ceramic tank for plant watering:
    • Porosity: The porosity of the ceramic material will determine how fast or slow the water is released. Some ceramic tanks have a more porous construction, allowing water to seep through gradually. Others may have adjustable release mechanisms like small holes or valves that regulate the flow.
    • Watering Frequency: Depending on the size of the tank and the moisture needs of your plants, the watering frequency will vary. Monitor the soil moisture regularly to gauge how quickly the water is being released and adjust accordingly.
    • Refilling: Check the water level in the ceramic tank regularly and refill it as needed. Avoid letting the tank go completely dry, as it may take some time for the ceramic to reabsorb water once it’s empty.
    • Cleaning: Over time, mineral deposits or algae may accumulate in the ceramic tank. Clean it periodically to prevent clogging or bacterial growth. You can use a mild solution of water and vinegar or a commercial ceramic cleaner, following the manufacturer’s instructions.
    • Remember that the effectiveness of a ceramic tank for plant watering may depend on factors such as the type of plants, environmental conditions, and personal preferences. It’s always a good idea to observe your plants’ response and make adjustments as needed.


    Columns, Pods and Pod Cap:

      The capsules are made of PETG.  short for polyethylene terephthalate glycol-modified, is a thermoplastic material that belongs to the polyester family. It is a transparent and durable plastic known for its excellent strength, impact resistance, and flexibility. PETG offers several advantages over other materials, making it popular in various industries.

      Here are some key features and properties of PETG:

      • Strength and Impact Resistance: PETG has good mechanical strength and impact resistance, making it less prone to cracking or shattering compared to other plastics. It can withstand accidental drops and impacts without breaking, making it a suitable choice for applications that require durability.
      • Chemical Resistance: PETG has good resistance to a wide range of chemicals, including acids, alkalis, and solvents. This property makes it suitable for applications where contact with chemicals is expected, such as laboratory equipment or chemical storage containers.
      • Food-Grade and FDA Approved: PETG is considered a food-grade material and has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for certain applications. It is widely used in the food and beverage industry for packaging and other related applications.
      • Recyclability: PETG is recyclable, which means it can be melted down and reprocessed to create new PETG products. This makes it an environmentally friendly choice compared to other non-recyclable plastics.

      Industrial and Engineering: PETG is used for various industrial and engineering applications, such as machine guards, protective covers, and housing for electronic devices. It’s important to note that while PETG has many beneficial properties, it does have limitations. For example, it may not be suitable for high-temperature applications as it has a relatively low melting point compared to some other plastics. Additionally, PETG may not have the same chemical resistance as more specialized engineering plastics in certain aggressive chemical environments. Therefore, it’s crucial to consider the specific requirements of your application when selecting a material.

      Every MyHydro3D comes with a one year warranty, so any damage that may happen during shipping or normal wear and tear is covered under your warranty and we will send you replacement parts at no cost to you. Simply reach out to Customer Support and send photos to 3designsforsell@gmail.com if you happen to have a broken part so we can confirm the part that needs to be replaced and record this for quality assurance.

      We recommend refreshing your tank biweekly to give your plants a healthy growing environment with a consistent balance of nutrients. It’s a simple process that only takes about 10 to 20 minutes. With regular HydroClean use right from the start, you can also decrease the need for (and potentially eliminate) whole-device cleanings later in your Hydro3D life by keeping the inside of your Hydro3D clean (while boosting plant health, among other benefits!).

      The Hydro3D water tank holds up to 4 gallons of water. After you’ve added plant food for the first time, we recommend topping off weekly with water and dissolved plant food to maintain a consistent balance of nutrients for healthy, happy plants.

      Plants & Growing Tips

      All seeds available in the MyHydro3D shop have gone through a rigorous testing and validation process to ensure  will have a positive growing experience. We only bring you the most delicious, nutritious, and beautiful harvests, and we’re always adding new varieties to the shop!. If you’re interested in growing a variety outside of our shop, try other of you preferend seed, available in shop online of other sellers. Designed for the experimental Hydro3D, you can pop in your own seeds and watch them grow. 

      We include 2-4 seeds in each yCube to maximize your chances of germination. The number of seeds varies depending on seed size. MyHydro3D seeds are non-GMO and organically sourced whenever possible, but don’t worry, the resulting plants you grow will still be pesticide and herbicide-free! We also offer seedless yCubes for you to grow your own varieties!

      Yes! We are always expanding our seeds shop, and members get access to the widest variety and most unique plants we offer.

      All of MyHydro3D seeds are non-GMO and organically sourced whenever possible, but don’t worry, the resulting plants you grow will still be pesticide and herbicide-free! We also offer seedless yCubes for you to grow your own varieties. All seeds available in the MyHydro3D shop have gone through a rigorous testing and validation. We are constantly adding new varieties to try!

      Our growing medium of choice that makes up the interior of yCubes is rockwool, a natural, rock-based material. Rockwool holds water well and does not dry out when stored for prolonged periods of time, while also retaining its structure when wet, even after many months on your Hydro3D

      Rockwool is composed of natural mineral elements melted into fibers and woven together. They are not compostable, but remember, neither are rocks!

      Rockwool does not contribute harmful chemicals to the environment, and you can add rockwool from retired yCubes directly to the ground without worrying about negative environmental consequences. Reused rockwool can be especially helpful to increase water retention in gardens or flower pots that otherwise quickly go dry.

      Inhaling rockwool fibers is only dangerous when you are handling and manipulating rockwool in large quantities. This danger does not apply when handling yCubes. We recommend preventing your pets from drinking water out of germination trays containing yCubes so they do not accidentally ingest any fibers. The Hydro3D Sprout Nursery has a built-in cover and tray to block access to its water.

      In the first 30 days when your plants are young, they won’t drink much water. When you have mature plants, and especially fruiting plants, which drink a lot, you’ll need to add water with dissolved plant food at least once per week. We call these weekly additions topping off your tank. But it’s best to keep your tank at least 50% full at all times. This gives your plants the most balanced nutrients for healthy growth, and it ensures your tank never runs too low for the pump to reach.

      We do not recommend using organic plant food in your Hydro3D (or any hydroponic system!). Mineral plant food provides the same nutrients as organic plant food, but without generating excess waste that will clog your pump. Since there is no soil present in a hydroponic setup, mineral plant food is always preferred because it is cleaner and will prevent biofilm from developing in your tank and columns. Your plants will still be organic, so no worries! You can learn more about what our plant food is made of here.

      Yes! If you’re looking to experiment, we recommend choosing plants that are determinate (meaning they stop growing in size at a set point) and, if you’re looking at fruiting plants, ones with smaller fruit. We offer seedless yCubes so you can experiment with ease. 

      The Hydro3D boasts the highest quality, full-spectrum LED grow lights available in a commercial hydroponic system, and as such are well equipped to grow cannabis. We have reported using the Hydro3D to grow cannabis with excellent results. Growing cannabis isn’t legal everywhere, so check your local and state laws first. MyHydro3D does not condone growing cannabis in states where it is not legal.
